A Walk in The Park

Sitting bored on his armchair,

little Jim decided to take a walk in the new park.

The 31st Creep Park,

it was named,

but Jim gave a little shake and walked in,

then he heard a sound.

Sounds of mice, no, rats, scurrying off,
Scary_rat

 

the sound of water dripping.

Then there was a witch’s shriek,

followed by a cry of terror.

Jim saw a puppy,

transforming to a young doggy,

then a werewolf.

It gave a howl,

wolf

and scratched the poor little Jim.

Just another walk, he thought,

as he took his pace and stared at the terrifying trees,

uncomfortably.

He felt his face go pale,

and soon

ran out of the park,

never wanting to go there again.afraid

Writing a Narrative(How To Write #2)

Hello there 😀

So you know how to write well, but how about writing a narrative? Why not follow these steps for a simple yet awesome narrative. What is a narrative? Well, it usually amuses or entertains the reader, or perhaps end with a lesson learnt.

Writing a narrative is simple yet fun. This is the process of writing a Narrative:

Orientation=> Climax=> A series of events=> Resolution=> Coda(optional)reading

Seems almost the same as the writing process, eh? These 5 simple steps are easy to do too!

Orientation:

An orientation consists of characters and the setting.The fun part is that you’ll be able to describe them with MANY descriptive languages! 😀

Now let’s continue with the climax:

A climax is a problem faced by the character(s) in the story.  Something bad/mysterious happens! scared.

Though it is good to come up with interesting dialogues, such as:HELP!HELP!  Try not to come up with long boring dialogues or sentences such as:Little Tim shouted for help and struggled in the water.His mother was so worried and called the lifeguard for help. The lifeguard rushed to Tim. Tim was saved! Well, I think that sentence had made you sleep.In the next How To Write#3 I will be able to help you in descriptive language, Show not tell. We shall come to that soon.

Anyway, let’s continue with the series of events!

The series of events takes place after the problem and there are clues to let us guess how the story would end. For instance: The man rushed his home, after realising that a fire broke out there. However, it was too late. What do you think happened to the man’s house? Of course, as you might have guessed it, it must have been burnt!

Now for the last part: The resolution!

The resolution is the part where the problem is solved and where the mysterious things that happened earlier are found out.For instance:Sally soon realised that the shadow following her turned out to be her father and not a captor.

"Phew!" he cried out in relief.

And if you want, you could add the Coda:

The Coda explains clearly what happens to the character after the resolution. Perhaps you would like to add a twist? Or maybe you would like to end of the story with a moral or a lesson learnt to “teach” the reader.

Unbreakable Love

There are some times we quarrel,

get into fights,

you spread hurtful rumours about me,gossip

causing me

to lose my precious friends,

it’s my fault,

not yours,

I got home and thought to myself…

Because if I break up with you now,

I have no one to talk to,

no one to go with during breaks,lonely

no buddy.

The next day, there you were, sitting down miserably.

I stretched out my hand toward you,

asking you to do a handshakehandshake

and saying,

“Would you forgive me?”

You thought for a while

smiled

and gave me the bonding handshake.

Life without you has been incomplete,

like a sandwich with no filling,

or a pen without ink.

But now we are friends,

our pinkie-promises

and little handshakes

let us remain

best friends forever. bestfriends

The Writing Process (How To Write #1)

Sometimes you get frustrated with thinking of ideas to write, eh? Well, not to worry. Here are some steps for you to get ideas, and, more importantly, write better!

The writing process:

Prewriting => Writing=> Editing=> Publishingreading

Now let’s start with the first step: Prewriting.

Prewriting:

How to get ideas:

Talk to your friends or family; do a discussion!

Surf the internet; get inspired by other writers in the world!

Look at anything around you for inspiration, for example if you received a ‘thank you’ card from your friend, why not write a story about cards?

Do something that gives you ideas, for example if you got the whole idea of your story but thinking about making a perfect name for a character in the story, why not look at all you objects? Perhaps think of a streetwise name, and then for the surname you could look for objects, like Beaker, Spooner, etc.

Now that you got the ideas, brainstorm using a 5W1H(Who,What,Where,Why,When,How)web! But do remember, not only put all the ideas together; but also add details, maybe you are doing a crime story, which is really meant to be terrifying, why not add details and descriptive words such as :The police caught the robber lying in a pool of blood, with his combat knife laid down on the flat ground. 

After you are done with your web, choose the ideas and note them down on a sheet of paper.

Now for the fun part. Use a story map and put all your ideas in it!

The story map consists of :

Introduction=>Problem(climax)=>A series of events=> Solution

And if you want, you could add the Coda after the Solution. A Coda is used to explain what happens to the characters after the resolution/solution. However, we usually put Codas in Narratives.

Anyway, in the story map be sure to add in your 5W1H! 😀

Now let us continue with writing…

Writing:

Step 1: Write the draft.writing

Step 2: Revise and rewrite, which is something like checking an essay. You could also share your draft with family and friends, telling them about what they feel about the draft. Be sure to read out the FINAL draft to yourself to see if it sounds better.

We are almost done! Now for editing…

Editing:

We need to check for:

If we repeated the same words, for example:

Suddenly, the door opened. Of all of a sudden, Gita felt something crawl over her. She suddenly realised that it was a ghost!

Instead, you can replace those repeated words with different words with the same meaning.

You also need to check for:

Spelling

Punctuation

Grammar( ESPECIALLY YOUR TENSE!)

Alright, now for our publishing.

Publishing:computer

Make sure that:

The text is of the right size and colour. For example, it isn’t good to use a text which is black when the background is of a dark colour.

There is a title.

The picture or diagram used is suitable. Now if you are doing a story of good deeds, perhaps you want a picture of a man helping a blind man cross the road. We don’t want pictures of cute puppies or your favourite boy bands hanging around.

My Luck

One day

I was gardening on my grassy patch,clover

and I found

a beautiful green four leaf clover.

I looked at it

and wished that it would give me luck.

No, not wealth,

neither of getting smart brains,

or winning the lottery (which I would NEVER do.)

I just wanted it

to wish my sick friend

lying miserably

in the hospital with

protection,

showered with love and care.

The next day,

I got off to the hospital,

and there was my friend,

lying in a coma.

I looked at her,

uttered a short prayer to lord,

and took outcoma

that green clover,

placing it in my best friend’s hand.

After a short while I left,

hoping that she would be showered with love and care.

The next day,

doctors called me,

and announced that I had

made a miracle.

I rushed to the hospital,

and there she was,

sitting straight up,

opening her great blue eyes,

smiling at me!

It was then

that horrible coma

died off

while the clover eased my friend’s pain.

Not a true friend

On that day

we received our test marks.

I got a grade B,

and you got a grade A+.test paper

The teacher gloated on about your test marks,

while you sat there, grinning with pride.

You waved your test paper at me and taunted about my marks;

you hurt my feelings,

Instead of comforting me like before,

you only taunted and made me cry.

The next day we played basketball.

You kicked my knees,

accidentally on purpose

and laughed at me for being a crybaby.bully-boy

A week later

I saw you, smoking with cigarettes and sniffing glue.

I just want to ask you:

Why have you changed?

Why is it you ganged up with bad people?

Why did you taunt me?

Why?

Because after witnessing your true colours,

I think you

are not my true friend anymore.
